About Northshore Dental Assisting Academy

Northshore Dental Assisting Academy has been preparing students for fulfilling, lifelong careers since 1996, when it was founded by a local periodontist. Cynthia Curtis, the current owner of Northshore, worked for the previous program for a short while and then in 2003 had the opportunity to purchase and start the school anew.

Cynthia elected to change the program length from 10 weeks to its current 22 weeks, which strengthened the program by giving students more chairside training and hands-on experience. With a new name, new equipment, and a new class syllabus and text, coupled with the input of experienced instructors in the field, Northshore has become the premier dental assistant training center in the area.

	Sonja Smith, Instructor Sonja specializes in ortho but has spent many years in both periodontal as well as working for a company that specializes in the field of dental radiographs (X-rays). She currently works for Dr. Jean Chen, orthodontist, in Lake City, Washington. >>Back To Top
	Nicole Hoang, Instructor Nicole specializes in general dentistry. She graduated from Northshore in 2006 and has been a dental assistant for the past four years. Nicole met her husband in the dental field. She loves being an instructor for the program that led her into a wonderful career. She currently works for Dr. Robert Drumhiller in Ballard, Washington. >>Back To Top
	Jona Fournier, Instructor Jona specializes in general dentistry. She has been an assistant for seven years and attended Northshore for training. She loves assisting and enjoys teaching. In 2011, Jona traveled to Uganda to help a small village of people with their teeth. She currently works for Dr. Rothwell and Dr. White in Seattle, Washington. >>Back To Top
	Kara Rathbone, Instructor Kara specializes in general dentistry. She is a 2008 graduate of Northshore. She is excited to share her passion for dentistry with her students. She believes the decision to enter the dental field is a wise choice, as it is still one of the top careers nationwide.
